Hospitalist Services

The OVP HEALTH Hospitalist Program helps hospitals meet the highest standards of care and excellence in the practice of inpatient medical care. Our physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other advanced practice providers care for their patients, using the Core Values of Family, Community, Quality, and Integrity as a “North Star” to guide them.

“We challenge our providers to see their patients as members of their family,” said Tom Rittinger, MD, Medical Director OVP HEALTH Hospitalist Program. “If we hold ourselves to that standard, then they’re going to get the very best care.”

“Quality is something that we base our reputation on,” said Stacey Shy, Chief Executive Officer OVP HEALTH. ” It’s our brand, and we take it very seriously.”

Many OVP HEALTH Hospitalists serve in leadership roles at their partner hospitals, and actively participate in efforts to improve outcomes, enhance patient safety, and increase patient satisfaction.

OVP HEALTH’s corporate and hospital medical directors know they can’t rest on their laurels when it comes to quality. After all, what’s the best quality today isn’t necessarily the best quality tomorrow. So, they stay current with the latest, evidence-based practices and communicate regularly with their providers.

In today’s hospitals, quality care is a given. It’s an expectation. So, providing 100% top-quality care doesn’t set you apart. It makes you average. Where OVP HEALTH physicians stand out is in the delivery of that quality care — with kindness and compassion — just as you would treat members of your own family.

“Two seats on our hospital’s Medical Executive Committee are reserved for OVP HEALTH physicians. As participants on our quality committees, OVP HEALTH physicians have been instrumental in helping us with our sepsis protocols and reducing our infection rates, whether it’s C-difficile, central line-associated infections, or catheter-associated infections. They’ve been very responsive to our needs.”

“We had an 85% compliance rate with our sepsis compliance bundle. That is phenomenal, and it is 100% attributable to the engagement of our OVP HEALTH hospitalists and emergency physicians.”
